GeoEye Finalizes Contract With Lockheed Martin to Complete the Construction of GeoEye-2 Satellite

GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), a premier provider of superior satellite and aerial-based geospatial information and services, announced today that GeoEye Imagery Collection Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of GeoEye, Inc., has signed a procurement contract with Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, an operating unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (Bethesda, Md., NYSE: LMT), to complete the development and construction of the GeoEye-2 satellite and the associated command and control system. Governor McDonnell Announces GeoEye, Inc. to Expand Corporate Headquarters in Virginia

RICHMOND- Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that GeoEye, Inc., a premier provider of superior satellite and aerial geospatial information and services, will invest $10 million to move its corporate headquarters to the Dulles Corner Office Center in Fairfax County. The company will create 100 new jobs over the next three years and relocate its 230 Virginia-based employees to the expanded corporate headquarters facility in the first few months of 2011. Virginia successfully competed against Colorado and Maryland for the project. Speaking about today's announcement, Governor McDonnell remarked, "GeoEye joins other major companies who have recently decided to make Virginia home to their corporate headquarters. GeoEye is a high-technology company that provides vital satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence products used by a wide range of government, public safety, and commercial clients for applications in mapping, intelligence, agriculture, forestry management, oil and gas, mining, infrastructure and many other industries. The company's new, larger headquarters in Fairfax County allows room for the company's future growth, as well as continued access to the heart of a technology community."

Since the launch of the GeoEye-1 satellite in 2008, Google has added gigabytes of high-resolution GeoEye-1 and IKONOS imagery to Google Earth and Google Maps, such as a historic scene from the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, views of the pyramids in Egypt, and images showing urban expansion in China. To highlight other broadly-interesting GeoEye-1 images, Google has a 'GeoEye Featured Imagery' layer in Google Earth. Included within this layer are Featured Imagery placemarks, including a thumbnail of the image, a link to view the image in full-resolution, and a wealth of information about the scene, including resolution, collection date, and a narrative about the location...
