Review: H.A.W.X. 2 (PS3) - GeoEye Earth Imagery Featured in Article

...The in-game graphics of the planes and environments look sharp, detailed and almost perfect in execution. It's a shame to see that no real attention was paid to the models and environments in the story that is being pushed so hard from beginning to end. Luckily the majority of your time in the game will be spent either gazing at the gorgeous backdrops provided by the GeoEye satellite imaging included in the game's environments or admiring the detail put into your plane and the planes of your enemies as you blow them out of the sky.

PS3 Review – Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 - GeoEye High Resolution Imagery Featured in Article

...One of the best things about HAWX 2 is the visual presentation. The rendering of each fighter is done to perfection, leaving the player with the feeling of flying a sports car than a ragtag fighter. Thanks to the use of satellite high resolution imagery from GeoEye, the vistas of the land from above are simply breath-taking combined with scattered clouds that stretch over the beautiful scenery...

GeoEye Serves The Military, But Also Provides Pictures Of Hawaii - High Resolution Imagery Featured on Wall Street Journal

Looking for satellite photos of Colorado fire damage, flooding in Pakistan or a volcanic eruption in Iceland? Or happier images like islands, airports and soccer stadiums? GeoEye Inc. is the place. While the company's online gallery offers an impressive number of images, people searching for pictures of Hawaii provide less revenue than other facets of the company's business, like its military-focused services. The Dulles, Va., company just completed a $78 million sale of preferred stock to Cerberus Capital Management LP. Proceeds will be used to develop and launch the GeoEye-2 Earth-imaging satellite, slated to start operating in 2013. The funding was part of an agreement struck in March that was designed to support the company's bid for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's EnhancedView award...

HAWX 2 Review - GeoEye High Resolution Imagery Featured in Article

There were a lot of things that I liked about the first Tom Clancy's HAWX game, and all together I feel that this series is certainly a worthy adversary to Namco's longer-running "Ace Combat" series, and really perhaps in many ways superior to it...As far as the visuals go, there's probably not much of a comparable difference between the first game in the series and this entry, with maybe the exception of the ground terrain and maps (created again using GeoEye satellite imagery), looking perhaps a little bit better than I remember it looking in the first game. Sound design is mostly pretty solid, as far as both the sound effects as well as the voice-overs are concerned. I feel though that the explosions and other such similar blasts should be maybe a bit louder or clearer, and also the cannon on a lot of the planes doesn’t always sound quite like I expect them to.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X 2 - GeoEye Earth Imagery Featured in Article

...As previously mentioned the game rewards players that spend time going through story missions with new modes and other material. These offer a whole new perspective to the game and make for interesting challenges. With "Free Flight" players are able to fly freely around various well known cities/locations such as Tokyo and Scotland. The level of detail given to these places are superb and it’s all thanks to impressive advanced Earth Imaging Satellites and the GeoEye service. In fact, various GeoEye Satellite map views can be observed from within the extras menu, which is a rather unique touch. But the Free Flight has no real objective than to just fly around and try to simulate what it must feel like to pilot a a billion dollar jet fighter plane...

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 - Article Features GeoEye High Resolution Imagery

Mixed in with the Top Gun fight scenes are some new, and some seen-before side missions. These will see you taking control of unmanned drones as you listen in on terrorist pillow talk or – as in the Modern Warfare series – you will perform tower defence from your attack helicopter, helping friendly units escape as you apply generous volumes of cannon. The game is visually impressive due to its use of high-resolution GeoEye satellite maps, so long as you can remember to avert your eyes from the HUD tracker to take in the vistas you're so intent on dropping explosives all over. It is in the added game modes and the multiplayer that H.A.W.X. 2 will shine. Missions can be replayed with your choice weapon load out and plane type while your victories unlock alterations in arcade mode so you can change ammo and enemy difficulty...
